Wind Turbines Are Not Saving the World, They’re Just Chasing Government Money

June 7, 2013 by Paul Crowe

Taking your land and not saving the world

It’s always nice to see someone putting up their hands and saying, ENOUGH, and that’s what appears to be happening over in the UK with new measures just enacted: The new measures ensure that local views will always take precedence over concerns about the global environment. David Cameron is understood to have intervened in a […]

Do Wind Turbine Blades Ever Come Off? – UPDATED

June 2, 2013 by Paul Crowe

173 foot wind turbine blade comes off during the night at Octillo wind farm

In the same way that you don’t usually think about wind turbine fires, you probably don’t think about wind turbine blades coming loose and flying off, either, but they do. As the recent storms rolled through Oklahoma, the blade shown above came off and hit a daycare center a quarter mile away. Corrected – see […]

Wind Energy is Not Green, It’s Just Energy

May 28, 2013 by Paul Crowe

Meet your new neighbors

Are you a straight talking, “let’s just get to the facts” sort of person? Would you rather not talk politics? Well, wind energy won’t let you do that, because wind energy, which should be all about the science, is almost always, all about the politics. It’s really frustrating and it all starts with the color […]

Are You Willing to Gamble Your Property Value on Wind Turbines?

May 26, 2013 by Paul Crowe

Turbines? What turbines? No, we hardly notice them, just make an offer.

If you are like the majority of people, the biggest investment you will ever make is the house you live in. It’s a big step, there are so many things to consider, the location, the community and the schools are just a few, and, while nothing in life is guaranteed, you do your best to […]

North East Wind Turbines are All Cost and No Benefit

May 22, 2013 by Paul Crowe

Watch what happens to property values when wind turbines go up

The other day we asked why anyone would want to build wind turbines in North East Township. No one stepped forward to answer and the question continues to puzzle us. The longer we ponder, the more it becomes clear, for the residents of North East Township the wind turbine project is all cost and no […]

One County Bans Wind Turbines Based on Population Density

May 21, 2013 by Paul Crowe

This is about how many wind turbines are planned for North East

The Marshall County Board of Commissioners in Indiana, voted unanimously to ban commercial wind farms in their county. They recognized the population density was too high for the project to make any sense. Individuals in the county can still build wind turbines on their own property for their own use as long as the height […]

Unfortunately

The less you know about wind energy,
the more you'll like it.

Why wind developers never understand …

It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.

~ Upton Sinclair

Don’t know – Don’t care

Is willful ignorance necessary
to promote wind energy?

No, but it helps.

Climate Change

Another thing I must point out is that you cannot prove a vague theory wrong. … Also, if the process of computing the consequences is indefinite, then with a little skill any experimental results can be made to look like the expected consequences.

~ Richard Feynman, 1964

It’s not on-demand, it’s no-demand

Wind energy is "no-demand" electricity. If the wind isn't blowing and you demand electricity, the answer is no.

Wind – expensive, inefficient, unreliable

December 1923 Popular Science cover dreaming about generating electricity from windmills, and though the dream never dies, the dream doesn't work, didn't then, doesn't now and without huge government giveaways of your money, no wind farms would get built anywhere. The government forces utilities to buy wind power so payments to landowners are simply wind welfare.

Wind energy runs on tax credits

"I will do anything that is basically covered by the law to reduce Berkshire's tax rate, for example, on wind energy, we get a tax credit if we build a lot of wind farms. That's the only reason to build them. They don't make sense without the tax credit."
~ Warren Buffett - from interview with Fortune magazine

Wind investments and high cost green energy

“I’m in the wind business … I’ve lost my ass in the business. ... Hey, we can get on everything green. We can get on everything renewable. Then the cost of power will go up ten times."
~ T. Boone Pickens - on Morning Joe on MSNBC
